Regional elections and electoral roll. Main results and challenges for November 2006

This is a report based on the coverage of the 2006 regional elections by the Institute for the Development of Democracy (IPADE). It includes an audit of the electoral roll and a monitoring of the personnel involved, the constitution, time and members of the polling stations, the legal requirements that were met or not to enable the voting centers, the materials that were received and the time of reception, the number of ballots received versus the number of voters, the number of poll watchers who witnessed the constitution and opening and closing of the polling stations, citizen participation, invalid votes and challenges. Finally, it presents a series of conclusions and recommendations with a view to the Nicaraguan elections of November 2006.
