In February 2004, violence in Layasiksa made the headlines in Nicaragua: indigenous population faced rural families of mestizo background. What is behind this type. of confrontation? What ls the dynamic that leads these two groups to oppose one another? From a structural analysans perspective, the Layasiksa conflict Is not an isolated fact, United to a specific geography and to two particular groups. In fact, it can be compared to events that have occurred before. The authors attempt to define the structural framework that allows contextualizing and to explain the conflicts on the Atlantic Coast.
