The purpose of this article is to approach the celebration of King Pulunka from different angles, trying to explain it. For this purpose, it tries to delve, in the first place, into its roots, in such a way that the past-present research dynamic becomes methodologically indispensable, so it takes into account the documentary information of the XVII and XVIII centuries, as well as the ethnographic observation of the King Pulanka 2007. It also takes information obtained from interviews with prominent people of the community of Puerto Cabeza, and from the direct observation of the preparation of the communities prior to the activity, “behind the scenes”.
