Keywords:
Latin America, Indigenous people, MapsAbstract
In the last decade, indigenous maps have played a key role in both the creation and recognition of the concept of territory, as well as in the intensification of indigenous identity struggles around this concept. The author of this article follows some of these recent national and international processes affecting indigenous rights in Latin America; examines some specific indigenous mapping projects in this region; discusses in depth the territorial demarcation of participatory mapping projects financed by the World Bank in the Mosquitia coast of Central America; and concludes with an analysis of the case of the Colombian Pacific.
