Abstract

The Judith Kain House Museum was declared cultural heritage of the municipality of Puerto Cabezas on December 16, 2001. It is the first museum and the first art gallery in the North Atlantic Autonomous Region (RAAN), where it is projected to build intercultural relations through the diffusion of coastal cultural production and contemporary art. The author of this article reviews the exhibition inaugurated by this art gallery in homage to the 70th anniversary of the mother of coastal painting: June Beer (1935-1986), which includes paintings by Augusto Silva (Las Minas), Nidya Taylor (Corn Island), Frank Lampson (Bilwi), Karen Spencer (Bluefields) and, of course, June Beer and Judith Kain.
