Abstract

This research examines the mixed nature of Honduran Miskito identity in order to combat the idea that Miskito peoples are a homogenous indigenous group within the social scientific literature, thus contributing to the emerging mixed racial identity of the Honduran Miskito people. The research focuses primarily on how Miskito women and men in the Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve (RBRP) construct ethnic tropes of blackness and indignity in their everyday discourses and behaviors.
