Abstract

The Nicaraguan Caribbean, since the arrival of the Europeans until our days has been a motive of interest and investigation.  The first European chronicle that records the history of Nicaragua is that of Columbus noting his happy entry to our territory, in 1502, after escaping a squall by doubling the cape that he called, for this reason, “Gracias a Dios” (Thanks to God).
