Augusto Silva: rhythm on palm tree bark and echoes

Abstract

This article is a critical) analysis of the art of Augusto Silva, a young painter from Bilwi (Puerto Cabezas) its purpose is to appraise his most recent exhibit of drawings and paintings which employ palm bark, a fabric once used fer clothing. The author emphasizes the way in which Augusto Silva recycles materials, forms and elements typical of the region where he was born. Furthermore, Silva, through his images, presents an artistic representation of Nicaragua’s Caribbean Coast as a way to revive his own cultural traditions.  Some pictures of the paintings from the exhibit illustrate the article.
