Our linguistic diversity as biological diversity

Abstract

The general purpose of this essay is to evaluate what is loss when our ancestral languages die and argue for the care and preservation of the Central American linguistic heritage. More specifically, in the context of the discussion about the convenience or interest of preserving a maximum of biodiversity in the planet, the potential value of our ancestral languages for the investigation and comprehension of the mental faculties of our species will be pointed out.
