The mestizo fraud: annotations on racism in the multiethnic Nicaragua

Abstract

According to the author of this article, the racist idea that the ethnic, cultural, and biological differences imply social and political inferiority is expressed through discrimination and denial of the human rights of the people, by ignoring the fundamentals characteristics as is the fact that these are universal, inherent and non-prescriptive. In the case of the indigenous and afro descendants’ peoples of Nicaragua it is also translated in the denial of their collective rights. Toe author developed this statement in the analysis of racism and the individual and collective rights and the autonomy process.
