Chronological overview of land tenure in the municipality of Prinzapolka

Abstract

In this article, the author describes the various stages in which land tenure has developed in Nicaragua, in the Nicaraguan Caribbean and, specifically, in the municipality of Prinzapolka, starting with the Incorporation of the Coast to Nicaragua with the Harrison Altamirano treaty. He then points out the background of the legal and administrative framework for land use planning from 1950 to 1990, period in which he chronologically cites the laws, decrees and institutions that participate in this land use planning that currently accompanies the process of demarcation and titling of the Nicaraguan Caribbean. Finally, it describes the land-use planning proposal of the Prinzapolka community members.
