'To love’, ‘to remember’, ‘to forget' and a few other Miskito verbs

The main goal of this article is to describe in detail how compound verbs such as to level, to remember and to forget are conjugated in Miskito. The author intends to contribute to a better understanding of the grammar of the Misumalpa languages. In Miskito, nouns as well as verbs are marked fer gender. A verb composed of a noun and a verb may agree in two different ways: once fer the noun and again fer the verb. Hence, depending on the verb, these two possibilities can be combined in different ways: the noun may be invariable and the verb may agree with the subject (latwan kaiakaia: to love); the noun may agree with the subject and the verb may be invariable ((kupia krawaia: to remember); both verbs may agree with the subject ((auya tikaia: to forget), or the noun may agree with the object and the verb with the subject (bila kaikala: to wait).
