Abstract

The text we are presenting here is chapter six of a report prepared by a commission that carried out an expedition in the Mosquitia in 1844. This commission was organized by Prince Carl of Prussia and His Highness the Prince of Schoengurg-Waldenburg, with the objective of subsequently executing a Prussian colonization project. This project was framed within the efforts of two English officials: Superintendent Alexander McDonald and Consul Patrick Walter, who sought to strengthen and modernize the Miskito Kingdom for their own benefit. In this chapter, the expedition members analyze the characteristics and customs of the Miskitos mentioned in the title of the chapter.
